Equipment Auction Services

BB Realty and Auctions Equipment Auction Services

BB Realty and Auctions knows machinery. Our certified appraisers will come to your location to evaluate and appraise all of the equipment you have for sale so you know what to expect at auction time. We have over 15 years of experience of attracting motivated, pre-qualified buyers to auctions in the greater Kansas City area. Whether you have one piece of equipment to sell, or if you’re liquidating an entire fleet that you upgraded, BB Realty and Auctions can get it sold.

Deciding to sell your equipment at auction instead of individually can be a tricky choice. People fear not getting a fair price for their equipment. Our appraisers will work with you to set reserve prices for each piece of equipment and the auction will only go up from there. We market your auction across the entire region to attract pre-qualified buyers. You don’t have to spend a lot of time dealing with tire-kickers, scammers or low-ballers. Everyone who comes to our auctions is motivated to buy.

Equipment Auction Process

Step 1: No-Obligation Equipment Evaluation & Consultation

We have been selling heavy equipment for over a decade in the Kansas City area. Our qualified staff will come to your location to discuss what equipment you want to liquidate, discuss your timeline, evaluate the equipment you want to sell, and answer any questions you may have. There is no obligation for our evaluation – we’ll meet with you for free! After our evaluation, we will send a proposed contract for conducting the sale and once we reach an agreement, we will send our qualified appraisers to set expectations for what prices your equipment could bring at auction. Since the bidding process is competitive, all it takes is two interested buyers to drive the sale price above expectations!

Step 2: Marketing Your Equipment Auction

Marketing your equipment auction is key to attracting the right buyers. We market every auction using Facebook, X, fliers, our e-newsletter and traditional cold calling to people we think might be interested from our list of thousands of buyers. Cold calling is a very effective way of marketing equipment sales because people are very busy and might not be paying attention to upcoming auctions but still need equipment. You might be selling your equipment because you need to upgrade, and your equipment might be a big upgrade for another company! Let us do the leg work!

Step 3: Preparing Your Equipment for Auction

Our staff will come to your location to stage your equipment for auction, find out what works and what does not, record equipment hours and mileage, condition, etc. We’ll talk with you or your staff to answer any questions you may have about the process. We bring everything we need including jump packs, jumper cables, battery chargers, air compressors and tools to make sure your equipment is ready to line up for auction. We take tons of pictures and videos to add to our auction listing and pass along to interested bidders. During this process we create detailed descriptions of each item’s features and conditions for the listing. During our evaluation and preparation we conduct appraisals of each item so you know what you can expect from the auction. All it takes is two interested bidders to drive the prices up beyond expectations!

Step 4: Auction Day

Our staff typically begins auction day at around 4:30 am. We double check that all of the online assets and advertising list the correct address and have clear directions for getting to the auction and details about parking. We work to organize parking in a way that won’t disrupt your business or your neighbors and adhere to any city or industrial complex parking regulations. We field questions by phone and from people during the preview and will have keys in hand for each piece of equipment so buyers can give them a good look. Our qualified staff can demonstrate equipment (within reason) for potential buyers. Before the auction begins we speak to the crowd to give them an understanding of the process and talk about the equipment up for sale. We’ll make sure our staff is positioned in strategic places around the auction to not only observe bids but answer any questions from potential buyers.

Step 4: Post Auction

Once your auction is concluded we remove all of our equipment and gear. If you’ve chosen to use a clean-up crew, we can call them on your behalf. We have relationships with trusted, independent, insured crews that can handle anything you need and will follow your instructions for what to remove. Any remaining items are still your property. You may consider consigning any of the unsold equipment to one of our regular online consignment auctions which might reach the right buyer. After the auction we will prepare our invoice to you and have it to you within 72 hours. Once the invoice is approved, we will send you a check with the proceeds of your auction within 10 days.
